Walks from the door and great cycling

We have many delightful walks in East Yorkshire including both a 20km and a 8km walk that start and finish at our gate. The Wolds Way is within easy reach and our local council have developed excellent cycle routes across the area (guides available)

WALKING

The Wolds Way offers a 79 mile walk from the Humber in the south arcing across East Yorkshire to the coast above Flamborough Head. You can complete this trail over a number of days or explore some of the footpaths that criss cross the county.

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council have developed a great online resource in the Walking the Riding website where you can find details of walks of different lengths and degree of difficulty.

For those who prefer more gentle exercise there are a number of guided walks around Beverley and Hull - Ghost walks, the Beverley Town Trail and the Fish Walk around Hull. These walks are ideal for uncovering the rich history of Beverley and Hull, the Beverley Town trail helps you explore where the various medieval guilds plied their trade now marked by sculptures and plaques. If you have younger children Treasure Trails have a Spy Mission walk around Beverley, something all the family can enjoy.

As well as the Wolds Way there are some excellent longer walks including the Beverley 20, the Minster Way and the Wilberforce Way.

We have a pack of walks in the cottage available for guests.

CYCLING

The Yorkshire Wolds are perfect for cycling and you can choose from easier and more demanding routes. The quiet lanes of the Wolds are perfect for cycle rides of varying lengths and there are many cafes to stop off at for refreshments.

The new cycle routes that form part of the BIG SKIES BIKE RIDES offer eight circular day rides across the Wolds. Maps are available and they suggest stops for refreshments (we know the best bun stops!) and show bus routes. A pack showing the routes awaits you in the cottage but you can also find details by calling James at the team.
